Temptation Avoided

Woe unto my lss and the Quickutz Club. Last night's special offer was buy 5 shapes and get the 6th free. Since I buy very few shapes (I'm in to alphabets) this certainly did not tempt me. I thought I would at least get to see the Silhouette in action as they have it set up on a display table in the cropping area for demos. Imagine my surprise when I saw the display completely covered! Shame on you lss!

They had no Silhouettes, no Grands alphabets and only about 15 grand sized shapes available last night. I know at least one other person at my table would have bought the Silhouette last night if it had been in stock. For shame!

So who knows where I can get a deal on the Silhouette?

Fingers Crossed!

I am so hoping that the Silhouette will be on special offer at my Quickutz Club meeting tonight! I have three loyalty cards saved up and a little extra cash squirrelled away just for this.

But I am trying not to get too excited. I was in the store on Friday and the only Silhouette was the display/demo unit. Even with a terrific price, I am gonna be hard pressed to special order from my lss. My last two special orders were both for Quickutz items and both were exercises in total frustration! Allow me to vent...

The lss had a storewide 25% off sale. I selected two QK alphabets, Lucy and Daisy, from the display. When I get to the counter, they have already sold out of Daisy. I'm told if I pre-pay the sale price they will order the item for me and have it to me within 2 weeks. I agree. 2 weeks go by without a word from the store. I go in to shop and ask the staff to check on my order. They pull out a notebook of special orders and show me that my order is there. Um, what does that mean? They are still waiting for the product. Any idea when I should expect it? No clue.

I wait a week before I go back to the store with the same question. I am shown the same order form and offered no information on the shipping of the item. I request to see the manager. She looks at my order and apologizes. Says she will have to research the order with QK and will get back to me on when to expect my item. I wait another week and return to the store. The manager tells me it will be another week before my item arrives. I wait and return. I ask about my item. The staff cannot find my order in the notebook, but they did recieve their shipment from QK. I ask to see the manager. She also cannot find my order but she remembers my situation. She sends someone into the back to get my Daisy alphabet. The associate comes back stating there is only one Daisy and that it is being held as a special order for someone else. The manager tells her we'll worry about that later and removes the hold information from the package. She then asks me how I would like to pay for it! I paid for it 5 weeks ago when it was ordered. I have to provide a receipt, which they verify in their computer system. I am about to boil over. The manager steps aside and apologizes. She tells me they are working on a new system for special orders etc.

Then in early December at QK Club night, I am presented with a special opportunity to order the Revolution at a reduced price. The club leader states it will arrive in 2 weeks. I turn in my order at the counter and the manager says they cannot guarantee a 2 week delivery but that it will definitely arrive before the end of the year. I wait and wait. I ask about it at the store and the staff doesn't even know what a Revolution is! I keep asking and calling. I'm told the shipment has been lost and QK is tracking the box. I'm livid that the order is so late and no one has called me with an explanation. Where is the customer service? I call again and again. Finally, I am told that QK has backordered the item.

So I ask you, How sweet would the deal have to be before you considered a special order?

I'm ready to play!

Ugh! I am stuck in the office as usual and all I wanna do is scrap. I have a million work tasks to accomplish before I leave and I just know I am gonna be worn out with frustration. I've got to update our web site and I get to play accountant as our bookkeeper has called out sick every day this week. I need to complete two of her most complicated reports this afternoon.

So I am treating myself with a trip to the LSS tonight :) In fact, I may vist two or three of them tonight to see all of the new stuff! I know my wallet is trembling, especially considering I am hoping for Silhouette to be on sale at my QK Club night next week.

Time for lunch!

It's All Good!

Why do I always get a burst of creative energy when I am stuck in my office far away from my scrapbook goodies? By the time I can leave here it will be time to prepare dinner and run errands (nope, the trip to the pharmacy can't wait) plus the little tail waggers will want some attention. I'm feeling so inspired this morning! I have some new goodies I want to play with including my second Quickutz Grand alpha. That's right I found Washington on sale last weekend...woo hoo!

I just got an email from one of the lss that they got the new Basic Grey. Oh, the shopping this weekend! My poor wallet. I wonder if anyone got Dutch Girl from Cosmo Crickett yet? And how about Technique Tuesday stamps? Actually all I really need are QK photo corner dies, some music themed pattern paper and some clear buttons for my current projects. I went all over last weekend and could not find clear buttons. How strange is that?

Speaking of playing with new stuff, one of the sources of my vamped up creative energy is Big Picture Scrapbooking. I am taking two classes right now Product Playground and Choosing Joy. WOW! Run don't walk the next time these are offered. I can't wait to see what the BPS girls come up with next. I'm especially interested in the Wellness workshop.

Last tid bit for now...please cross your fingers for me. Our QK club night is coming up on Tuesday and I am so hoping the special will be a discount on Silhouette.

I'm impressed!

Wow! I have to give serious props to the folks at More Than Memories. The order I placed on Friday arrived yesterday. Now that is some fast service. The papers were packed with care and the order was perfect. Thank you More Than Memories!

So now that my Love Struck papers have arrived I have no excuse for not finishing my Valentine/Greatest Love project. It's time to get to work. I have nearly all of the journaling fleshed out. I have old photos ready to go and even some great memoribilia. I'm a bit stuck on how I am going to end the journaling but once I get in the swing of it I think it will work itself out. Wish me luck as I need to finish this on Saturday while DH is at work if I want to keep it a suprise.

Love Struck

I have never been one of those scrappers who runs out of a collection in the middle of a project. This is not because I am especially gifted or lucky but mostly because I buy a ton. I have an enormous paper stash. I typically buy collections I like as soon as they are available in my area so I can get it all. I'll buy a collection without even knowing what photos I'll use with it. I buy what I like and what sparks my creativity.

About a month ago, I stumbled upon a few sheets of Marah Johnson's Love Struck line. I had seen the collection on her blog and I just knew it was perfect for my Valentine project (BPS Greatest Love). I found ribbon, rub ons and a pack of chipboard embellishments with 3 pattern papers. I figured the full line would come in and I'd be able to get the rest of the pattern papers for the project. Oh, how wrong I was!

The largest lss in my area got all of the new CI with the sole exception of Love Struck! Caution Girl with it's pink haired skulls that I am strangely drawn to and have no idea how I'd work with is everywhere. Love Struck is even sold out at the online stores I frequent. Luckily I found a source online. I have never purchased from these folks before . Wish me luck that everything arrives in time for me to complete my Valentine!
