It's All Good!

So much good news to report! First, my LSS is NOT closing after all. I am excited to report that the store has been purchased and will reopen in just a few weeks as the second location of Scrapbook Market. Confession: the first thing I thought of when I heard the news was I should drive out to Tally (2.5 hours) and check out their other store!

Second, the cancelled stamping class I was hoping to take has been moved to another store. Next Tuesday is the big day.

Third, the LSS hosting Lindsey's crop is having a sale on NEW CHA goodies this Saturday. I hear they have unpacked boxes of new Heidi Grace!

Finally, I found both the new PaperCrafts magazine (October) and the new Cards (September) magazine. I can't wait to play with these this weekend. I saw so many ideas that I can use. I love the new Melissa Frances paper and embellishments I saw in Cards. Now if only I could find the new Holiday magazine from Scrapbook Trends :)

Friday Wish List

I am on the hunt for:

In a strange twist of events, my brother has wandered over to read my scrap blog. Welcome! You'll find the following will help you understand my rambling:
BG=Basic Grey (manufacturer of pattern paper and embellishments)
QK=Quickutz (manufacturer of die cutting products)
LSS= local scrapbook store
DCWV=Die Cuts With A View (patterned paper and embellishments. Paper is often sold bound in "stacks". I freely admit my addiction to stacks.)
J's=Joann stores
M's=Michaels stores
HL=Hobby Lobby
ACM=AC Moore
CK= Creating Keepsakes magazine
SS=Simple Scrapbooks magazine
BPS=Big Picture Scrapbooking (both a book and a web site)

OK, with this little primer you can make yourself at home here. Plus, if your girlfriend gets into this you'll know exactly what she is spending so much money on ;)

Broken Hearted

The largest of our local scrapbook stores is closing. The owner says the landlord wants a three year committment and she doesn't want to be away from her family. I was nearly sick when I read the news. While we have several stores, this is my regular store. It has the best selection of inventory and it is closest to my home. It hurts my heart just thinking about it.

Woo Hoo!

You know how sometimes you have a day where everything just seems to go just right? I had one of those days on Friday! I actually felt like I got a lot accomplished at the office and I managed to leave on time, which never happens on a Friday. I rushed home to have dinner before going out to crop. My Dh had not only prepared dinner but presented me with three new DCWV stacks I had been looking for all week including Rockstar!

Friday night was a very special crop. Our lss was hosting the one and only Donna Downey! I signed up for this crop about three months in advance. Lindsey was still in the hospital recovering from the lung transplant but I signed her up anyway. Proof that I never doubted she would be well again!

I knew Linds was nervous about being around a large group of people. She’s taking a lot of medication to prevent rejection and she is immune suppressed. I knew if someone coughed or sneezed she would worry. I guessed she would wear her mask.

We were lucky to get a table near the door. Our area was not crowded and Lindsey hardly wore her mask. I had emailed Donna with a little bit of information about Linds and all of the ladies at the lss have asked after her all through her recovery process. It was so great to see them all make a bit of a fuss over her. We even got our picture with Donna! The two of us felt really special to know so many people cared.

I can’t express the feeling of seeing your best friend restored to health. Lindsey’s transplant was a miracle. Over the last year we had been watching her slip away. Her spirit was strong but her body was losing strength rapidly. Within days of the transplant Linds was walking faster and longer than she had in years. She no longer needed oxygen. It was as if her health was a battery that had suddenly been completely recharged. Now we are building strength and building a future. Lindsey’s got her life back!
