Scrap Worthy?

Are there topics out there that are just not scrap worthy? A while back I saw a layout about Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I thought this was a great idea and now I've started wondering is any topic too small? What made someone think to photograph their local doughnut shop? If you love it, does it have a place in your scrapbook? What's missing from my scrapbook?

What do you think?

Crazy for Cards

Yesterday I received an email from Inque Boutique featuring a totally stunning thank you card.

This is the inspiration I was looking for! I can't wait for cropping time tonight.

Die Cutting Systems

I remember the first time I stood in front of a Quickutz display. I could not understand making an investment of hundreds of dollars to die cut letters. I thought I was immune to the lure of Quickutz! After all, I had the original Sizzix and hardly ever used it.

A few months later I was at a crop sitting alone and feeling sorry for myself because my cropping friends had all left early. Suddenly two ladies noticed my plight and invited me to move to their table. Jean and Jacqui are two outgoing, fun and friendly ladies. I blame them for my addiction. That night they shared their blue tool and alphabet dies with me. Since then I have made a huge investment in Quickutz from the original blue tool to the revolution and even the silhouette. I am all about the Quickutz.

So could someone please tell me why twice this year I have been tempted to purchase a Cuttlebug? First, it was the Disney embossing templates. I love me up some Disney. One of my little dogs is named Disney! But I stayed strong and resisted. And then this weekend, I was tempted again. I saw a card sample on a blog and I just had to make that same card. First, the card required the Happy Birthday embossing plate for the Cuttlebug. Next, I would need Nestabilities (which I could also use in the Cuttlebug). There I was in the Michaels with a 50% off coupon and my eyes on the prize! I was lucky enough to have a friend talk me down :) I just can't afford the money or the space in my scrap area for another die cutting system. So, QK if you're listening, I need that Happy Birthday embossing template. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

Dad's Day Project?

What do you give a guy who has it all? My dad is in his sixties and has been retired for some time. The items on his wish list are a bit out of my price range (think Alaska cruise and train vacation across Canada). Next week is his birthday and of course, the week after is Father's Day. Last year, I made my Dad a CD case filled with his favorites and even some comic CDs like Dane Cook's. He seemed really happy to have something I made for him.
This year, I've picked up a couple of small things including some of the "Old Guys" clothing line which matches a line from Creative Imaginations. Still, I am looking for a project that will show Dad I put some time and effort into his gifts. If you have ideas for hand crafted masculine gifts, please share!

Book of Me

I've been thinking about the memories I want to scrap most for my BOM and recently realized I was focusing so much on my past that I wasn't doing much to document who I am today. I've been thinking of some fun topics I can cover and I've even got some ideas for little mini books.

First up, my obsession with beauty products. From cosmetics to bubble baths and lotions, I love it all. I sincerely hope there is a Sephora in heaven! Maybe I'm a bit high maintenance, but I love to coordinate an entire look with makeup, hair and scent as additions to my accessories. I've invested quite a bit in my perfume collection and I think it would make an excellent subject for a mini album.

Next up, magazines. I read them on scrapbooking, housekeeping, fashion, gardening, cooking and travel. I always have a stack of them to read.

Other ideas include favorite books, getting my Kindle, my garden produce and a history of my career which will include a humorous look at various jobs I have held. If I can keep it organized long enough I'd love to have a layout on my scrap space too.
